Alan Groves was
born in London in 1966. Having developed an interest in fantasy
drawing and sculpture from an early age, his career began in the
film industry in the early 1980s while working for various special
effects studios in London. These included Jim Henson's Creature Shop
and the BBC Visual Effects Department.
After working as a
freelance sculptor, prosthetics and special effects artist for
several years, Alan set up Millennium Dinosaurs Limited. |

During this time, he designed and built models, exhibits and robotic
displays for many museums in Europe, America and the Middle East. He
also worked on numerous feature films and television series creating
models, make-up and special effects.
Leaving England in 1999, he headed to Australia to work at Fox
Studios, Sydney. While at Fox, he designed, sculpted and constructed
for many films and commercials.
Alan then accepted a position at The Australian Museum so as to
continue his work in Palaeo-reconstruction.
Alan now lives and works with his
partner, Sascha, in the subtropical rainforests of Queensland - the
perfect environment from which to continue his work in prehistory.
Alan is an Associate of the Australian Museum and frequently
collaborates with their scientists on reconstructions of Australia's
unusual prehistoric fauna.
